Budget hotels for about 1 week close to Chinatown?

Planning to travel to Singapore around June/July, and looking for a place to stay for about a week, preferably close to Chinatown. The room needs to accommodate at least 2 people. I'm open for other alternatives too like apartments or condos or extended stay hotels. I'm thinking maybe around $50/night. Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Fragrance Hotel and Hotel 81 chains are definitely hotels to look at. Price changes depending on the area. Choose one near the MRT for your convenience if you see yourself taking the trains.

Another option is go with hostels. You said at least for 2 people? So you're expecting other company? Some hostels will have rooms available for 4 or for 6, so technically it becomes a private room if you book the whole room. Give or take it will cost an average of 25 SGD per bed per night.

airbnb.com is another option. I've seen rooms at 50 USD there although not exactly in Chinatown. You might be fortunate to find one though.

$50/night might be a little challenging in finding a private room for 2. If budget is a concern, you may want to consider hostels with bunk beds. I have two suggestions that my overseas friends have recommended, so you may want take a look.

    A Beary Good Hostel

    1. https://www.abearygoodhostel.com/bearynice/rates.htm

    Pillows & Toasts Hostel

    2. http://www.pillowsntoast.com/pnt-heritage/rooms-rates/

Otherwise budget hotels (like Hotel 81 http://www.hotel81.com.sg/hotel_chinatown.html) in Chinatown will set you back at least $80 to $100 a night. Probably Airbnb might be a better option?

Woo...do you have to be close to Chinatown? I know one called Santa Grand Hotel but am unsure if you can get that for $50/night. You may have no alternative but to expand your radius of search to areas like Value Hotel Balestier. Super no-frills but still only 5 minutes by taxi to Orchard Road.

There are lots of hostels in Chinatown area. But the challenge is finding one that is actually clean and decent. There is one near Little India station called the Bunc, (you can find them on hostelworld.com or hostelbookings.com), which is clean, and offer high-speed internet connection. However, it is a bit of a walk to the MRT station.

You could also try to find some nice condos that are offered for rentals on short term basis on these sites:

    www.airbnb.com

    www.roomorama.com (this one is a Singapore-based startup)

Not really a hotel but it's the Backpackers Inn (BACKPACKERS' INN) in Chinatown, a few minutes of walk away from the MTR Station~ Private double room is now around SG$65 per night but you can always go for a dormitory style if you want which is S$28 per bed per night

$50 budget is quite difficult to find in Chinatown because it is considered as a Central Business District. I found a list of hotels around Chinatown from Hotels.Online.com.sg website and the cheapest they have is $100 as of today.

If you want to get cheaper or somewhat close to your budget, you can look for budget hotels like Hotel 81 / Fragrance Hotel. Transportation wouldn't be a problem because mostly these hotels are near to bus stops and MRT.

You can check the rates here:

Try Albert Court Village Hotel, Village Hotel Bugis, Parkroyal on Beach Road for decent rooms. Alternatively, for cheaper options you could try Fragrance Hotel or Hotel 81. I would recommend you try a 3 or 4 star hotel, as June/July are hot months and rooms are generally not sold out.

You could try the chain hotels like Value Hotel or Hotel 81..? Or you could take up a private room in a boutique hostel.

It depends on whether you want.

You can check out travel mob (I work here) for alternative accommodation options in Singapore.

For $50/night you could find a place like this near Orchard Road.

Or you could rent a unique heritage shophouse in chinatown for $130/night.

There are many options available - do check us out.

Try out http://www.backpackersinn.com.sg/, check the prices when you're in there then check around the area. If their prices is reasonable, go back only if it is. Backpackers inn/ hotels are aplenty around Chinatown/ Bugis Street in Singapore. The rates may be good but you may want a little more facilities.
