Best area for a young couple to stay in SF on a budget?

Hi guys,

I'm planning to travel with my boyfriend in September. What is the best area to stay for a young couple? Also, any recommendations for sleeping arrangements for a couple on a budget?

Thanks!

Hayes Valley - hayes valley is always a fun area to stroll around. hayes street is lined with chic boutiques and some of the cutest little dining options. other areas are quieter.

Mission District - The Mission is San Francisco's Brooklyn: hipsters, incredibly long lines for things like ice cream and/or bread, and unlimited dive bars. The main drag of it has absolutely no hills, which is like finding a snow leopard in the middle of a desert in Egypt. It is home to Dolores Park, which is basically like a never-ending peep show for the city's culture.

Lower Haight- The Upper Haight's hot younger sister. This place is deemed “cool to live in” by what seems to be "everyone and their everyone." Do yourself a favor and just rent here on autopilot. Seems to be like buying Apple stock.

Dogpatch- offers top-notch food, beer, art, views, and community programming designed to bring the rapidly expanding area together. Although many residents rely on cars to get around, the ready access of the T line means that your commute downtown (not to mention to the Giants games) will be direct and consistent—by MUNI standards, anyway.

Marina District, Cow Hollow and Lower Pacific Heights are great places especially for young folks. Lots of great shopping, restaurants, and bars. It can be a bit pricier but I'm sure you can find some sort of deal on Airbnb (negotiate with people!).

+1 to Airbnb! You can score some great deals on properties in the city.

I suggest Hayes Valley , Mission District , North Beach or the trendy Polk St area for a rental. All of these offer great bars & eateries, cool shops and are away from the hustle & bustle (+ tourists) that come with the downtown/pier scene.

    Have fun!
