  • "Best of the best restaurants in San Diego?"

Andreas Rossi

Manhattan, New York

Best of the best restaurants in San Diego?

My fiance are looking to catch some California sunshine one of these upcoming weekends.  For lunches, I'm looking for some place with a view, preferably a nice beach view.  As for dinner, I remember enjoying the Little Italy neighborhood, so if there are any good dinner spots there, that would be great.  Thanks!

Chart House in Solana Beach has the most amazing view. Good place, but not amazing. You will enjoy the view for sure. It's right on the 101 and they do have valet. Although you could park along the beach on the 101. But any beach around SD will have some good to great restaurants with ocean views. I used to work at Chart House as a bartender so I know that view well and it is awesome. But Little Italy is great. I think that's a great place to hang out and get great food, great cocktails, and amazing beer. You can't go wrong there. · (0 likelikes)

There are several good lunch spots with a view around La Jolla CoveLa Jolla Cove if you have a car. George's At The Cove has two levels open for lunch, the rooftop and the bar level. They have excellent food for the money and look down on the cove. George's At The Cove

The La Valencia Hotel has a deck off the lobby that has a terrific view. We had lunch there about a month ago and I thought the food was outstanding. La Valencia Hotel

Eddie V's - La Jolla has a fantastic coastal view and we had an excellent lunch there recently. Eddie V's - La Jolla

Closer to downtown San Diego, Bertrand at Mister A's is one of the better (and more expensive) restaurants in town and they serve both lunch and dinner. It has a sweeping view of the city and bay. Bertrand at Mister A's

You can get a water view at downtown restaurants along the bay, but you won't see much sand. Places to consider include Sally's Seafood on the Waterand The Fish Market.

You can hop the ferry to Coronado and have lunch at one of the restaurants that face the city. We had a nice lunch recently at Il Fornaio and a less successful one at Candelas on the Bay. If you have a car or take the ferry and a taxi, you can have lunch at the Hotel Del Coronado which is grand old hotel on the Beach. Sheerwater is the best lunch choice there.Hotel Del Coronado

As for dinner spots in Little Italy, Juniper & Ivy is getting good press, although I haven't been there yet. It is on the edge of Little Italy. Trattoria Fantastica has been in Little Italy forever and has very good food and a nice patio in good weather.

I like Sheerwater at the Hotel Del Coronado for a good view. Sbicca in Del Mar has a great view and really good food. Juniper & Ivy is one of our hot new restaurants by Richard Blais and is really good. It's not in Little Italy, but is close. My favorite restaurant in Little Italy is Davanti Enoteca.

Go to Juniper & Ivy which is owned by Top Chef winner Richard Blaise. Make a reservation in advance at OpenTable.com.

or go C-Level at Island Prime - best views and food ever. Get there before sunset to get a table on the water to watch almost 180 degrees of sunset

I agree with The Prado at Balboa Park I have never had a bad meal there. I also love The Oceanaire Seafood Room excellent food.

I don't know of a place that has both a great view and great food I think it's one or the other. George's At The Cove has great views but I think the food is meh, it's all about the atmosphere.

If you go into the Gaslamp district there are some great places to eat and people watch. I love a place called Bandar Restaurant but there are tones of places to eat there.

One more thing, you have to make a detour this is not a request, for the best desserts on the planet Extraordinary DessertsExtraordinary Dessertsimage from menuism.comExtraordinary Dessertsimage from food.theplainjane.com

The Prado at Balboa Park is a really nice place... If you make reservations ahead, they have an awsome view and garden of the park, and the food is delicious...

Both menus (Lunch and Dinner) are awsome, I reallly enjoyed it!
