Route from Airport to Hotel

Hi! We are flying into the fiumicino airport and staying at the Donatello Hotel in Rome. What would be the least expensive way to get from the airport to the hotel? Is there a bus system? And which stop would we take off the bus to get to our airport?

Thank you!

I think the train, The Leonardo Express, its the most common and cheapest way to get to Rome from Fiumicino. It leaves you in Stazione Roma Termini, where you could walk, its pretty much near to the Hotel Donatello (if it is the one I found on G-Maps : https://www.google.com.ar/maps/place/Hotel+Donatello/@41.8939239,12.5098635,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x132f619128df247b:0x4f2a807536e45300 )

Hi! From the Fiumicino Airport there are too many companies of transport that bring you to the Stazione Roma Termini: they are perfect, in one hour and 6€ you'll arrive. But if you are four it's better the taxi, according to me :)

    Hello,

First thing you are going to want to do is take the train into the city. The Leonardo Express departs every 30 mins from Track 24 to Stazione Roma Termini. The ticket should cost 11 Euro and can be purchased at the train counter or the news stand. The train takes about an hour and you want to ride it all the way to the end. Exit the train station on the southwest side and you should be on Via Giovanni Giolitti. At this point it would be easier to just walk the 0.9 miles to the hotel as opposed to try and take a bus. If you follow Via Giovanni Giolitti southeast (you will know you are headed the right direction as you will be walking along side the tracks you just came in on) until you reach Via Achille Grandi and take a right . Left at the next road which is Via di Porta Maggiore and your hotel will be on the right. Have fun Italy is wonderful.

    Thanks,

There is a train, that goes non-stop from the Fiumicino Airport (FCO) to the Stazione Roma Termini train station. The Leonardo Express leaves every thirty minutes and costs around euro 14, although that may not be accurate as I haven't been in Rome for about seven months. You buy your ticket near the train, and validate it before boarding. This train has advantages - efficient and fairly quick (about 30 minutes) and disadvantages (long walk to connections once you reach Termini, carrying luggage on/off the train - which has steps). There are busses from Termini that run toward Hotel Donatello. I think there may be a tram line as well.

There are also taxis that travel with a fixed rate, and busses into the city. I have never taken one of the busses but have taken a taxi when heading to a place that is a bit too far off the public transportation paths. If you take a taxi, the cost is around euro 40/45 with a surcharge for luggage. If you decide on a taxi, be sure you line up at the official taxi line with the white taxis right outside the terminal - do NOT respond to individuals who offer you a ride into the city.

You may want to contact your hotel to see what they recommend

    Enjoy your time in Rome!

The cheapest and most direct route to your hotel is via a private car service. There are several in Rome that will pick you up from the airport and deliver you to your destination or hotel for around $30 or $40. Prices vary if there are more than 2 people. Arrange your pick up ahead of time for best price. Other transportation is a fast train from Fiumicino Airport airport to Stazione Roma Termini or Stazione Roma Ostiense for a fixed price per person then you will still need to walk, cab, bus or tram it to your hotel.

There's a train that goes from the airport right into Rome. I can't remember what's it's called. But it was very easy to use. I don't speak Italian and had no problems getting around Rome via public transit.

The train is the best option! It will take you straight into Stazione Roma Termini and then you can take a cab, walk or even try the subway. It all depends where your hotel is.

    hello Briana,
the cheapest way to reach the city center from Fiumicino Airport is the bus (generally costs 4/6 euro to person) that stops in Stazione Roma Termini (the main station in Rome). Here, you can take the metro costs 1.50 € (ANAGNINA direction) and get off at Manzoni (from Termini are only 2 stops). Outside the metro you walk for 750 meters ( Via di porta Maggiore and Via Manzoni ) to the Hotel Donatello. http://bit.ly/1lHPze5 the link of google maps.
And here you have the link the transport from Fiumicino http://bit.ly/L17EGR.
N.B Before boarding the bus you always ask where it stops.

Search the 'Slow Travel Italy" website for a wealth of info. We used "Bobs Limousines' and were picked up at the airport and delivered to our hotel. The cost was 55 Euros but was arranged in advance by email.

    You have two options:

the 1st one is to take a cab, it will cost you 40 to 50 euros (4 people going to the airport in October: it cost us 50 euros). So if you are more than one people you can share the cost and you can catch the light and the beautiful Sunday in Rome!

the 2nd option is to take the Leonardo Express train to Stazione Roma Termini (Termini Station-Central Station for trains and metro). It will cost you 14 euros per person, the journey is 30 minutes and train leaves every half an hour from Fiumicino. From Termini you have to take the metro to Manzoni station (2 stations from Termini, Line A-Red colour) which is the closest station in walking distance to Via di porta Maggiore

Hi Briana, I copy here the same answer I wrote few days ago.. as your hotel seems to be close to Porta Maggiore... : I usually take the train leonardo express which is the most used connection as it is the most fast but it cost a lot being just 35 min.. 15 euro, sometime I take the bus also direct take 1 hour or less and cost about 5/8 euro. Both are easy to find in the airport no problem. Both arrives in Rome main Stazione Roma Termini. From Termini take public tram or bus to Porta Maggiore ask out of station easy too.. or you take a taxi about 8/10 euro 5 min. Ride.

There is a train that goes to the Stazione Roma Termini station which is the city center. This is the best way to get there. Avoid the people that offer transportation services and cab because it's much more expensive.

If you really want to go cheap, take the terravision or one of the competing buses from the airport to Stazione Roma Termini -- it's something like 5 or 6 euro per person. And then a tram (5 or 14) to Porta Maggiore, which is next to the Hotel Donatello. The tram will probably be packed, might be easier to just grab a cab from right outside the station. Ride shouldn't be more than 10euro.

It's a lot faster to take the leonardo express train, but it costs something like 14euro per person, and takes you to Stazione Roma Termini direct.
