Elopement trip: activities & where to eat for our wedding night

We're heading to Positano to elope in October and are looking for things to do in and around there, and where to grab a special dinner for the night of our wedding.

While we're there, we definitely want to visit Pompeii and Herculaneum, but having trouble finding out how to get there from Positano. Would be totally willing to do a small group tour if I could find one!

Just up the Cliffside from Positano , there is a very quaint bed and breakfast that serves meals. Agriturismo Serafina ! It's up the road towards Agerola . Eating here was one of the more magical moments of our trip across Italy! The family welcomes you in as one of their own, the food is fabulous and affordable and they keep the wine flowing! They serve dinner at 8 or 8:30, I don't remember for sure, but it was amazing! ALL of the food is fresh off their farm! You won't be disappointed! While I this area, explore! Get lost! Amalfi was our favorite and we didn't 'do anything'. We took walks along the steps the of cliffs, went down to the Furore Cove , and took a day trip to see the Roman temples of Tempio di Hera , Tempio di Athena , and Tempio Di Nettuno in Paestum . LOVED EVERY MINUTE! Congratulations on your engagement!

For a special meal, head to Ravello and have lunch or dinner at the Hotel Palazzo Avino which was formerly called the Palazzo Sasso. Ravello is one of the most beautiful and romantic places i've been and Palazzo Avino is probably its best hotels. Ravello sits high up overlooking the sea and coast below. After your meal, stroll down to the main square (the Piazze Centrale) and the Duomo Di Ravello where you can grab a drink, coffee or gelato and take in the views. You won't be disappointed. Very special place.

Hello, congratulations, take the Circumvesuviano train from Naples to Sorrento, from the station there is a bus to Positano. Consider going to Don Alfonso 1890 in Praiano or Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi , if you are willing to pay a bit extra, it's your wedding after all :-)

There is 2 must do's in Positano and the perfect place to have a wedding dinner would be at Le Sirenuse . It is amazing and one of those places when you go you'll be trying to add it to other peoples bucket list!

    http://www.sirenuse.it

For lunch and a more rustic experience but just as amazing as Le Sirenuse is at the top of the mountain at La Tagliata

    http://www.latagliata.com

You arrive, sit, meet the family you own and run the restaurant. You don't get a menu but are presented with course after course of food that will blow you away.

Do these and you won't be disappointed!!

Le Sirenuse Hotel for the dinner, hands down for the atmosphere. All food in Positano is pretty amazing. You can get a private driver for not a crazy amount of money that will wait for you while you are in Pompeii. To be honest, I was a little disappointed with Pompei. Everything has been taken to the museum in Naples.

Here's the driver's email: info@xploreamalficoast.it. If you end up using can you let them know that it was Katherine Gaffney who referred them.

Have a blast. I'll be returning there in Sept.

Every place in Positano I went was amazing; however, one of my absolute favorites was La Tagliata . With the live music, insanely romantic scenery and engagement with the staff (family owned) and other patrons - it was a memorable experience.

Congrats on the impending marriage! Positano's backdrop is perfection!

There are buses and trains from Positano to Pompeii in the summer; I'm not sure about the fall. But a private car or van is much more convenient and not real expensive. Look for recommendations on-line and ask your hotel.
