If you are staying in Faro then I would suggest that you visit the Sao Bras de Alportel where you have an excellent cork museum. This might sound a little odd, but if you call in advance then they will give you a really good tour of the area that will give you a whole new relation to cork.

I would also recommend the town called Silves where you have an old castle dating back to moorish times, where you also have some good exhebitions inside of art and other things.

The town Lagos was the place where the portuguese navigators set sail for the new world and the town where Henry the navigator lived and it's a very pleasant town with a lot of history to it.

There is a tiny little restaurant in Lagos called Casinha do Petisco where you get some of the best home cooking in Portugal in a place that looks so small and simple that you would not think it would be possible.

There is another restaurant in Lagos called RESTAURANTE NO PÁTIO which is also very good, but also more on the expensive side.

The small town Tavira is worth visitng too and it's quite close to Faro.

You will meet in Faro one afternoon.. So the best is to rent 2 cars and visit another beautiful places such as Tavira, Albufeira, Portimão and of course Sagres.

Run away of the touristic menus, they're not good at all, and not authentic.

You have the most beautiful beaches and rural landscapes in Algarve, a lot to see and enjoy for sure.

    Have a nice trip
