If you are really into food carts, don't stick to the Pearl district. I think you'll find the best pods on the eastside. I like the one on N Mississippi Ave. next to Prost! . You can get food at the carts and get a beer from Proust. There are a number of good carts including Miss Kate's Southern Kitchen , Koi Fusion and the The Big Egg . All terrific. I also like the pod on SE Belmont Ave. and 43rd Street. Euro Trash and Cackalack's Hot Chicken Shack are excellent. If you like pizza ( Pyro Pizza ) and all types of fresh cut fries from Potato Champion (with many unique and delicious add-ons) go to SE 12th and Hawthorne. Who knows what you'll feel like when you get there!

Year Of The Fish is a great cart. Best fish-n-chips I've had in Portland. Also, Elephants Delicatessen is near the Pearl and they have awesome food. It's a cafeteria style place.

You HAVE to try Nong's Khao Man Gai. It's a chicken and rice food cart. Super simple but super delicious. Located on 10th and Alder in downtown PDX. Below is the exact address. You won't be disappointed.
    SW 10th & Alder St.
    Portland, OR 97205

Also, if you're in to poutine...there is a great food cart opened until 2AM in SE PDX. It's called Potato Champion.

    Happy Food Trucking!

Rule of thumb: consider the carts where the folks are lining up. Make eye contact--say "What's your favorite thing here--I'm new to town" and you'll hear a lot.

Try the almost cart place The Waffle Window on Hawthone Street, SE. Next door to the also great Bread and Ink Cafe .
