Hello Ash. Catalonia Playa Maroma (Maroma Beach) is awesome. Congrats you are staying at one of the finest beaches worldwide. Here a couple of things you should know when flying into Cancun, Mexico.

    1) After migration & customs you will see on your way out of the terminal a bunch of so called "travel guides". They are actually timeshare sales people and will try top get you into a presentation. Just ignore them on your way out and keep walking.

    2) Airport Taxi´s are due to the long distances quite expensive in Cancun. Make sure to book a shared or private transfer. This will be cheaper and you don´t have to worry when you arrive with your suitcases in Mexico.

    3) There are many activities you can choose from in the Cancun area. I would defiantly recommend an excursion to Chichén Itzá (huge Mayan Pyramid) and / or the Xplor zip line adventure park.

Enjoy your time in Mexico, I bet you will have a great time here.

In addition to Al's response, you should make time to explore the area around Tulum, which is about 1 hour South of Cancun. Plenty of good food in the village, you can swim in the "cenotes" around the area, and the pyramids over there are one of the most beautifully unique I've ever seen.

I would recommend a tour in the jungle to visit Coba and climb the highest pyramid there. You should also take a ferry to Cozumel and go snorkeling. Xcaret is also worth spending a day at and the beaches are beautiful there!...have fun!:)

I highly recommend Snorkeling with the Whale Sharks! We went with a private tour operator Riviera Adventours out of Playa del Carmen and it was a life changing experience! We swam with hundreds of Whale Sharks, dolphins and Manta Rays in amazing clear blue water in the wild. Fortunately, the Whale Sharks are harmless filter feeders that suck in plankton and small fish. The whale shark is the largest and longest fish in the world. Reaching 50 -65 feet long, these animals grow larger than a school bus. Despite the fact that they are massive, they're not scary. After all, they are known to be gentle and docile fishes. It was such an surreal experience to swim right next to these guys what a fantastic time we had. · (0 likelikes)
