Motorcycle Day Trip

Hi. I'm planning a day's ride out of Mesa on 2/13.  Any advice on good routes for desert/nature sightseeing are appreciated.  Thanks!

Thank you! It's been a number of years since I've seen an Arizona sunset. Well, overdue. :) · (0 likelikes)

Motorcycle people like riding out to Tortilla Flat - I'm not sure it's showing up as quite the replace as a Trippy location, though. Also, I could see heading east from the Phoenix area on the US60 through Superior (Arizona) and into Globe as a really good option for a motorcycle.

It's all high-desert scenery and mines, from modern open-pits to adits and shafts. There are also canyons and peaks everywhere.

Sedona's scenery is great, but the traffic and constant tourist hucksterism can make you crazy.

Try the Apache Trail. You'll have to Google Map where the start of it is... I think you go east on US 60 until it gets to Apache Junction, then I'm not sure of the name of the turn off. It winds you through the Superstition Mountains to Canyon Lake, Apache lake, and ultimately, Theodore Roosevelt Lake. A very scenic ride. Or, just continue on US 60 through Apache Junction, Gold Canyon, and on up to Globe/Miami (Arizona) You could continue on through the Salt River Canyon Wilderness & on up to Show Low. Another easy scenic ride.
