Active-10 Day Itinerary for the Philippines?

Either alone or with a friend, I'm looking for any recommendations for a 10-day trip to the Philippines. I'd likely fly in/out of Manila.

Ideally would have some time on the beach, but largely doing active things (hiking, snorkeling, waterfall jumping, etc.) and explore markets and food in the cities. I travel light, so a new city/town every day or every other day is ideal to see a lot.

In 10 days, you could split half of it on Luzon to visit the beautiful rice terraces of Banaue Rice Terraces, there is a lot to do in that area.

Banaue Rice TerracesThen for the second half you can fly to Busuanga for some superb snorkeling, diving and island hoping.

    Busuanga

A very good place for snorkelling and swimming is Coron

The town you need to fly to there is called Busuanga

El Nido is getting very very popular these days too as the scenery there is nice and the beach very good just be ware that it's a fair drive to there from the airport at Puerto Princesa

Do you have a recommendation in Coron vs. El Nido? I think I only have time for one. · (0 likelikes)

Coron is better for diving than El Nido, so if you are a diver then go to Coron. Otherwise i would say that they are both pretty. · (0 likelikes)

Thanks! I am not a diver. I'd love to make it to both, but don't think that is going to happen. Leaning towards El Nido, but need to work out transit details for a short-ish trip. · (0 likelikes)

I suggest you definitely check out Palawan to see the Underground River and check out the amazing beaches. Cebu is also another place to consider with tons of outdoors activities you can try (snorkeling in Malapascua Island or Moalboal, whale shark encounter and see Tumalog Falls in Oslob, and check out BantayanIsland. Then you could head to Bohol to check out the Chocolate Hills and the Tarsiers and Panglao Island. Albay could also be another option to see Mayon Volcano then head to Caramoan for some hiking or maybe camp out in Calaguas for a night. Every place has great markets for food and shopping for cute souvenirs. Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Sadly there are no beaches in Metro Manila. There are a lot of things to do there like going to old Manila, going to Corregidor Island and the nightlife there. If you want to go Scuba Diving or Snorkeling you will have to go to Dumaguete or one of the other places in the middle of the Philippines.

I'd suggest you to go to:

    Cagayan de Oro

Bukidnon - You can do some hike there. Mount Dulang-Dulang or Mount Kitanglad Integrated Cooperative(1-2 hours away from Cagayan de Oro)

Camiguin - Island with falls, hot and cold spring, beach and hiking spots. You can tour the island in 1 1/2 day. (3 hours away from Cagayan de Oro)

Siargao Island - Surf spot with hidden lagoons. (8 hours from Cagayan de Oro)

    Manila- Enjoy the Metro.

We recently returned from a great trip to the Philippines and our highlights were Boracay island for lovely relaxation, beach time & good food (for info on how to get there from Manila check out http://www.manilatoboracay.com/), El Nido in Palawan for the stunning island hopping/boat trips (you could look at http://puertoprincesatoelnido.com/ for how to get there from the main city Puerto Princesa) and Bohol island in Cebu was also lovely for activities such as visiting the famous chocolate hills, seeing Tarsiers and some time by the beautiful Loboc river (would recommend staying there if you go). Hope this helps & have a fab holiday! All 3 destinations would be a bit much too much for your 10 days but just wanted to give you an idea to assist in choosing where to go! I would suggest a maximum of 2 of these places!
