Cheap hostel in Paris? (i.e less than 40 euros per night?)

I am planning to visit Paris next month. In the past I used to stay at a friend that is no longer there, so I have no idea where to stay but cannot afford more than 40 euros a night. Any ideas of hostels?

I stayed at FIAP Jean Monnet (FIAP Jean Monnet) many many years ago when I was in Paris for 3 months. It's almost like between a hostel and a hotel with very basic accommodation. Prices don't seem to have changed much - around 68 euros for a private room w/ shower - a little more than your budget but it's safe and clean.

I have stayed in both St Christopher's Inn Paris Canal and Gare du Nord Paris hostels in Paris. Both offer lively atmosphere in the downstairs bar. Gare Du Nord is 2 minute walk from the Gare Du Nord station (you can literally see it from the station) so therefore more convenient if you plan on going to London or any other destination via train. The Canal is as the name suggest is next to a Canal and offers peaceful and scenic views, perfect for chilling out and experiencing bit of the Parisian life.

Hey Ilias, there seems to be a hostel with good reviews in Pigalle which is a great area to explore Paris and its nigthlife, only a 10-minute walk to Montmartre : auberge Woodstock Hostel (48 Rue Rodier, Paris 9ème). Here a bed costs around 32€.

You can find more hostels on http://www.aubergesdejeunesse.com

    Hope that helps !

    Enjoy Paris

What about the Le Regent Montmartre (Le Regent Hostel Montmartre), Boutique Le Village or St Christopher's Canal? They are all quiet cheap if you sleep in a dorm room!

The first one is in a really good location, the Christopher's Inn looks very nice!

    I hope that helped!

Actually Le Regent Montmartre looks brilliant. I don't mind staying in a dorm, so I think I'll go to that. Thanks a lot! · (1 likelikes)

You should try airbnb.com, you'll have access to hundreds of nice rooms in Paris for 40 - 60 euros. If you still want to stay in hostels, I know there are some in Pigalle but I don't know one in particular.

    Bon voyage!

It's been a few moons for me, but the MIJE was always very reliable and clean. It's a long story but a practically lived there for a while and thought it was great. You can't get more centrally located, that's for sure (it's in the Quartier Du Marais. I would check it out.

Also, two cheap-o but great places to eat in the area:

Galerie 88 and Cafe Pont Louis Philippe are both pretty reliable. Cafe Pont Louis Philippeimage from flickr.com

It's actually pretty easy to find dorm beds in Paris for under 40 euros/night. Even in the summer most of the hostels in Paris are less than 40 euros (at least currently... they do tend to go up in price a little each year).

You can do a price search using the hostel meta-search site Hostelz.com. Just go to the Paris hostels page, enter your booking dates and do a search. To sort them by price choose "Price" under the "Order By" selector on the left side. That will show you the lowest price from across all of the hostel booking websites.

I'm scared it could be dangerous and not clean hotels for less than 40€ in Paris. You should try couchsurfing instead https://www.couchsurfing.org/

    or Airbnb.

    Good luck.
