Louise Tiernan

Dublin, Ireland

3 nights in Munich, am I missing anything?

Got 3 nights in this lovely city at the end of October.

Planning on getting in some currywurst, steins, castles & palaces.

But is there anything else thats a must, i.e. the Deutsches Museum? Good clubs / bars? Also will the christmas markets be running around this time?

P.S. Couple in mid twenties if that helps :)

Thanks.

Most Christmas markets don't open until mid-late November, unfortunately.

You have to visit the Hofbräuhaus - it is a great beer hall and yes it can be touristy, but it is worth the visit. There are others in the city but this is the best one.

If you like churches, I recommend the Frauenkirche but also Michaelskirche (Neuhauser Straße 52) where the Mad King Ludwig II of Bavaria is buried in the crypt with several others. Both of these are a quick visit.

If you have a chance to check out a soccer match at the Allianz-Arena , it is quite the spectacle.

As for museums, yes you must go to the Deutsches Museum plus also the Glyptothek (ancient collections), Alte Pinakothek for art from the 15th to 18th centuries and Neue Pinakothek museum for 19th-20th century impressionist art.

As for clubs, I usually would take a taxi and ask to be taken to the hottest club so I can't help you there. Have fun!

It is worth to visit Pinakothek on Sunday! Then entrence is only 1€. Other days from 7 up to 10€. About Bavarian beer I recommend @Augustiner Keller, great beer and traditional food. · (2 likelikes)

The Deutsches Museum , an old yet very amusing technology museum, and Alte Pinakothek and Neue Pinakothek , which consists of 4 modern museums all in one with the most beautiful art pieces from exceptionally talented artists, including Van Gogh!

The The English Garden and Olympiapark are also must-visits in Munich.

I also recommend visiting Marienplatz and Maximilianstraße if you are interested in some good food and shops!

For a young couple like yourselves, you seemed interested in night lif. Munchen has an unusual, if not unique, safe place to party: Kultfabrik , adjacent to the East Railway Station (Ostbahnhof). This district, spread over about three city blocks, comprises 22 clubs, pubs and late evening places to eat, as well as concert stages. There is almost always something happening there. The entrance is off the Grafinger Strasse, just about a half block from the Ostbahnhof. The website is www.kultfabrik.de.

The Deutsches Museum Duetsches Museum is a good museum to visit. It is supposed to be the largest technological museum in the world. If you like automobiles, the BMW Museum is a nice visit and you can also see BMW World Esszimmer which is really a huge auto dealership. Hofbräuhaus is touristy, but I always enjoy the food, beer and music there. The Christmas Markets don't open until December or the last week of November.

If you are interested in visiting a WWII Concentration camp, Dachau is a short train ride from Munich. It's incredibly moving and definitely worth the trip.
