If it's just within the city of Manila, go on a food trip in the bohemian area Maginhawa in Quezon City, or in the hole in the wall restaurants in Makati City. Some cultural and historical activities also await you in Intramuros. But for adventures like hiking, better go outside of Manila. Batangas and Laguna are 2-3 hours from Manila and they'll have good hikes for you.

In Manila itself you have no water falls, mountains and such but you can head to Mount Pinatubo if you have a full day out of Manila and hike it.

It's a spectacular hike but it requires a full day and it will be nicer if you have a chance to stay overnight out there.

Taal Lake south of Manila is also very nice and you have some excellent hiking there.

Manila is a metropolitan area but manila city is more of historical sites. You may go to north or south like Tagaytay City or Baguio City to find adventures and nature site seeing.

Manila being the country's capital is pretty much urbanized so it's more like how Kuala Lumpur is to Malaysia or Bangkok is to Thailand, so you would need to get out of the city for activities like that. A great tip I could provide is try to fly over to Cebu, which is found in a different region, but you can get the city experience and there are tons of options for outdoors activities, hours from the city proper. Malapascua Island is a great diving site, so is Moalboal where you can also check out Kawasan Falls, or your best bet is Oslob where you can encounter some whale sharks and you can hike to Tumalog Falls which is there. But I have a special place in my heart for Bantayan, that place is paradise to me. I'd never get tired of going back there.

There are plenty of other places in the Philippines where you can get your adventures, do try to check out http://itsmorefuninthephilippines.com/ to see what else might tickle your fancy! :)

    Hi Cassidy!

Manila is covered by Metro Manila with numerous key cities - Manila, Makati City, Taguig, Quezon City, etc.

If you want adventures, head to the islands of nearby provinces. It all depends on how long will you be in the Philippines.

Luzon adventures : want to hike Mt. Pinatubo crater, Taal Lake? Head to Sagada / Banaue to see Rice Terraces.

Mindanao : too many waterfalls : Lake Sebu - zip line passing through several lakes, Mt. Apo the highest peak in the Philippines is located in Davao City. Samal in Davao has Hagimit Falls.

Other awesome waterfalls : Tinuy-an Falls in Bislig, Maria Cristina Falls in Iligan City.

Surfing : Baler, Surigao City, Dahican Beach in Mati

Bohol offers one of the longest zip lines.

Bukidnon - waterfalls, caves and rodeos.

Most of it has to do with Manila, but most of the locations mentioned are within a few hours commute from Manila.
