Favorite hotels in Los Angeles?

In town for a couple days next week, would love some recos on your favorite places to seek shelter, preferably close to the coast. Something upscale would be awesomesauce.

    Here's a couple tips.

    1. Hotel Erwin - it's kind of the newer hipper spot in venice with good social scene and rooftop bar (rare in Venice)

    2. Shade Hotel - Manhattan Beach is not as hip as venice but still a good scene with a much cleaner nicer beach. Shade is the best hotel in Manhattan Beach. Take some bikes that Shade has for guests and cruise the strand.

    3. Shore Hotel - if you want to be in Santa Monica, this place is newer and very eco friendly. Only seen it from the outside and it looks nice.

    4. Beach House Hotel Hermosa Beach Nice rooms. Great ocean views. Literally on the Strand/beach. Near the Hermosa Pier so you'll get the young, drunk party crowd if that's your jam.

These are some of my favorites The Huntley Hotel as well as Viceroy Santa Monica and Shutters On the Beach and Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows. Malibu is off the beaten path and the hotels are a little more run down. Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach are fun, but not as many options.

You should definitely try Hotel Casa Del Mar, it's as close as you can get to the shore and isn't too far from local attractions like the Santa Monica Pier. There are also plenty of great restaurants along Ocean Ave, you might want to try Water Grill and Blue Plate Taco.Blue Plate Taco
