6 hour layover in Los Angeles, what is there to do?

I'm going to have a layover in LA for 6 hours and was planning on going to Hollywood Blvd. Is there anything around there I can do?

Most people would say Venice or Santa Monica, but Manhattan Beach is the best call. It's an easy can ride from LAX and gives you a ton of activities. If you want to grab a meal/drinks and walk on the pier, that alone would be a great layover. You can also rent a bike at Funn Bunz and ride down to the Hermosa Beach Pier and back.

I would head down to Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach. Rent a bike in Manhattan, then take a ride along the bike path that runs along the beach, check out the piers and grab a drink or bite locally. Venice Beach is not as nice and has more vagrants. Manhattan beach is about a 10-15 minute drive. A taxi will cost about $25. But, if you are dead set on Hollywood, plan on at least an hour each way. There are lots of touristy places to eat at and see there. The beaches will be easier and less stress getting to and from, but I understand everyone wants to see "hollywood". You might have more of a hollywood star moment in Manhattan Beach if you run into one of the starts that lives there. I have read of several sightings of Vince Vaughn at Ercoles Bar ("dive" bar) on Manhattan Ave.

Agree with Tonco, maybe too far for Hollywood... Head to Manhattan Beach or Venice Beach.

    What time is your layover?

You definitely have to check out the Venice Beach and Boardwalk but traffic can be crazy any time of day. Another great place and pretty close to LAX is Abbot Kinney. Very cool little street with lots,of cafes and small art galleries and shops. It even has its own little version of Venice canals.

    Hi James,

As Tonco said, Hollywood boulevard is a bit far and you may not want to risk it, it could take about an hour to get there and depending on whether your flight is international or not, you don't really have that much time. Plus, keep in mind that since everything is spread out, transportation will be costly to and from the airport. I would suggest staying around the airport, like Marina Del Rey you could walk down Abbot Kinney and find something to eat or you can head to Paco's Tacos for some great strawberry blended margaritas, fresh, handmade flour tortillas and great Mexican food.

I agree Hollywood is too far. The traffic in LA is intense. Los Angeles International Airport is by Marina Del Rey, Redondo Beach, Santa Monica and Venice Beach and Boardwalk. All very entertaining for a few hours.
