What are some great unmissable spots in Lima?

I'm headed to Lima for Mistura Food Festival and have an overwhelming list of spots I want/need to check out, has anyone been recently that can shed some light on my shortlist?

I suggest staying or at least checking out the coastal city/area of Mira Flores. It's a relatively quick cab ride from the city and airport. It's much cleaner and more relaxed than Lima and still has tons of culture and delicious restaurants. · (0 likelikes)

Lima is a city of sense - best seen if you know someone.... With that said, and based the focus around Mistura and the Peruvian Cuisine - and rightly so - try the different neighborhoods... Miraflores and Barranco are a must - with the many different bars and restaurants. Need to venture and try Chifa (uniquely Peruvian Chinese foods), Sushi (again with Peruvian influence), Criollo food (Canta Ranita, Jose Antonio, Las Brujas de Caciche, among many others); Cevicherias (some higher end ones in El Mercado , Pescados Capitales , Cebicheria La Mar , among others); but also try the high-end spectrum - well worth every Penny - I would HIGHLY recommend Rafael's (BTW the same owner as El Mercado).... Y you do not mind traveling a little into the mountains, there is also the iconic Granja Azul with the best milk-fed chickens in South America (fries, mayo and drinks will not disappoint either...)

As for things to see and experience - El Malecón in Miraflores is unique, La Costa Verde for some foosball and beers in the beach, Lurin for chicharron, and Barranco for a Boehmian flair...

Hope this helps a tad... Food and Restaurants abound in this gastronomical world capital. Just take some probiotics before going... help you tummy beforehand so that your tummy can help your taste buds later!

    Cheers and Enjoy!

Terry! I'm living on Lima right now. Thanks for this awesome reply. I would like to complement your post by suggesting to visit the local markets (Mercado Magdalena is one of them) where you can find fresh food and cooked by native peruvians. The quality of the food is a 100% fresh because it is served daily with ingredients bought that same day. · (1 likelikes)
