  • "What area should we stay in Kyoto for 2/3 nights?"

What area should we stay in Kyoto for 2/3 nights?

We'd like somewhere that's affordable, but also would prefer to sleep in a bed rather than on the floor, so are willing to pay more for that. Would like to be close to the main sites. We'd also be interested in an AirBnB, but want to make sure we're in the right area for siteseeing and restaurants/nightlife (if there is any?)

Thank you.

I'd recommend staying near Kyoto Station or Gion Corner if you want to be close to sightseeing and restaurants/nightlife. We stayed in an Airbnb that was in a more residential area, but with bicycles and trains it was very easy to get around. Enjoy!

Gion area that has most of the restaurants and bars. It's best to stay around there and it's pretty central too. There are a lot of restaurants in small alleys and by the water and the Nishiki Market is pretty fun to walk.

Visit Kiyomizu-Dera, specially during sunset it's a nice place to see.

Kyoto Hana Hostel is a great value hostel as the cost is really reasonable and you can get to many sightseeing from this hostel.

There are many kinds of rooms here so you can find the right one for you.
