    • Sao Nam (Vietnamese): Top notch flavour, price is reasonable. Located in the heart of KL, near Changkat. www.saonam.com.my
    • Jalan Alor (Assorted dishes): There's a lot of street food choices here; from Chinese, Malay, Thai to Indian http://bit.ly/1LvpFJW
    • Bijan Bar & Restaurant (Malay): For an authentic Malay cuisine, a bit pricey but worth it www.bijanrestaurant.com

There's some great food in Kampung Baru (New Village); the places there are quite traditional and rustic and cater to a local crowd. Madam Kwan Pavillion is a local favourite if you want to experience Malaysian food in comfortable, air-conditioned surroundings - they have several outlets. Jalan Alor(Alor Street) has a market that comes alive at night and worth trying are the Oyster Omelette and seafood from various outdoor restaurants there.

Definitely should hang out at Mamak Restaurant and order roti canai (flatbread eat with curry and dhal). Most of the restaurant open 24 hours and this is where Malaysians usually hang out. You should also try Nasi Lemak, can easily find anywhere but the best ones are mostly sell at the stalls rather than restaurants. This link should help you http://www.foodadvisor.my/best-nasi-lemak-kl/
