Wintertime activities for couples or family

My husband and I are visiting my relatives the week of Christmas and will be in KC for several days with no set plans. I know there's a neat music scene there, but is there anything specific (musical or otherwise) that we should make an effort to check out? We're normally outdoorsy people but are kind of sissy about cold weather, and anything quirky or under-hyped would be interesting. I'm sure my relatives can make recommendations but I thought I'd ask this knowledgeable group for insights too. ;)

    Hi Lizzie,

There's a ton to do, so I'll give you a diverse selection from the top of my head:

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is pretty underrated, but it's has quite a fascinating collection.

If you are into beer, the Boulevard Brewing Co has a cool tour and some samples at the end. If you prefer coffee, The Roasterie nearby also gives free tours (it's the building with the big plane on it).

You could learn what a real 12th man sounds like at a Chiefs game in Arrowhead Stadium.

If you are going to be a little further south of the city, Prairiefire in Overland Park has all sorts of cool places to explore from museums to dining to bowling.

Also, the Christmas lights at Crowne Plaza Kansas City Downtown. Magical this time of year.
