Itinerary for 10 days in Japan?

Hi, I'm afraid I have fallen in love with Japan. I'm now contemplating to go to another asian country (10 days solo backpacker low budget) or go back to Japan and explore some more! It's the only Asian country I've visited so far and I won't be able to travel again the next couple of years.

- What would be your advice? Japan or elsewhere?

- If Japan: I'm having trouble with my itinerary. I've already visited: Tokyo, Kyoto, Nikko, Nara, Hakone and Mt Fuji.

Thanks for your time!

I would consider a visit to Southeast Asia. I just spent a month in Cambodia and had a amazing time. It's very, very inexpensive and English is more widely spoken than in Japan. Angkor Wat near Siem Reap is amazing. You might want to spend a few days on Koh Rongwhich is an undeveloped tropic island in the Gulf of Thailand 45 minutes by fast boat from Sihanoukville. Thailand and Vietnam are also worth a visit but if you only have 10 days I would focus on one place.

Personally, I'd vote for Japan. I'm like you -- I absolutely love the place, although I haven't been there as much as it sounds like you have!

I would put two places on that itinerary that are just amazing: Shirakawa village, which is this little remote village that is so beautiful I can't even describe it. Not that there is much to do there, but it's just interesting to see.

And Ōkunoshima which is usually referred to as "Rabbit Island" because it's literally overrun with rabbits. Seriously. You just have to see it to believe it.

There's another island called "Cat Island" (the Japanese name is Tashirojima), which I'm hoping to get to someday!

Have you been to North e.g. Hokkaido or Kyushu in the south? There is a lot of beauty and scenery in these regions.
