Best month of the year to visit Iceland?

IcelandAir flies direct from here in Denver.  Easy for me to go - what is the best time of year to spend 3 or 4 days?

    Hard question,

to see the northern lights you want to go between september - april. This are the month with longest and darkest nights. But weather could be also very bad, especially from november to february. But right in this months you have the longest nights to see them.

It also depends what you would like to do. If you like to go hiking and explore the hidden treasures of iceland, I would recommend you summertime. Days are longer and the roads which are usually closed because of snow are open. But its also the season with the most tourists and higher prices.

Hey, Peter ... the Peter who already responded had it right as he often does. But let me add something - stay longer. Go see the remote areas. Drive around. Hike for a few days (in summer). Give yourself some time to get around, and Iceland will blow your mind.

Depends what you wanna do i guess.

If you like to snowboardor just want to make a snowman then winter is best. I'd personally always recommend at the peak of summer, which is june/july and also there's a very nice music festival happening every year in the summer called secret solstice, google it for more info.

We're heading out in May, hopefully it will be good. We read it's not as cold, longer days and just before high season so less people.
