Off the beaten path trip to Gran Canaria. Which places are a must do?

This will be a 5 day trip and I'm going b&b style.  I want to be far from the touristic crowds.  I will hire a car.

Hi Anke, I'm also heading to Gran Canaria on a solo trip (next week), so am watching the answers with interest!

I'm staying in Tejeda for a few days for walking, as the Parque Natural Tamadaba has been recommended to me. After that I'm having a few days in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and am planning on avoiding the resorts in the south if at all possible! Sorry that's not a very comprehensive answer, but looking forward to seeing more responses :)

    Have a fantastic trip,

    Julie

You could check out a rum factory! The Destilerías Arehucas factory tour is the only one I've been, but it was great! You might also want to check out the banana plantations, which I think are very close to Arucas (which is a lovely, vibrant little town).
