What's the best travel method from Geneva Switzerland to Montreux?

Possibly doing a trip to Europe in a few years.  Most likely will be taking the train from Paris to Geneva.  There is a scenic train in Montreux we would like to do (Chocolate Train) which is a day trip.  What's the best method of travel to Montreux from Geneva and est. costs?

    Hi Karen,

Geneva to Montreux should be around 50 Euros. Do stop at Lausanne though, it's the halfway point between Geneva and Montreux and it is BEAUTIFUL. If you look over Lake Geneva, you'll see the French Alps from Lausanne, and that is where the famous Evian city (where they make the overpriced bottled water) is located. Here's some photos I took when I went there. Also, check out my blog for more photos and details!

    This is Lausanne:

If you have the time, i would also advise you to visit Lyon and Annecy. Lyon is 2 hour train ride from Paris. If you buy in advance, you can buy train tickets as cheap as 20 Euros. From there, Annecy is 1 hour from Lyon, maybe another 20 euros and then Geneva is maybe 30min from Annecy.

    This is Montreux:

You do NOT need a car. Swiss Rail is amazingly efficient and goes everywhere you're likely to want to go.
