Affordable hotel for family of 4 in Mamanuca Islands?

Hi, looking for your help... We're a family of 4 trying to find a nice beach front hotel.  Our budget is around 150.00 US per night.  We would like great swimming and snorkeling in front of hotel.  Also wondering how much its changed in 30 years.  We're interested in staying in the Mamanuca Islands.. Thank you :)

Family went to Fiji a few years ago (2007!)
We stayed in Port Denarau it was fantastic. Had a self contained apartment.
Three bedrooms if I recall rightly, it was super close to the port area perfect for the Ferry!

We stayed for a week on Plantation Island which was bliss.

    Their website is here: http://plantationisland.com/
Their Kids Club is Fantastic! (I was 18 and they didn't mind me joining in on the fun!)
The adults also have the options of drinking in the pool and on the beach.
Local hireage for water sports and snorkelling etc all included. We had a great trip out to a local village one day too - sent out a couple of boats with a couple of resort workers and we visited an island. There we bought souvenirs and other things they'd made. For the Village it's their only source of income. I guess they're really lucky that they live close to a resort with "rich" tourists! (It was Shell Village or something like that).

Fiji on the whole is an amazing place.
If you leave the Mainland and head out to the resort areas you're safer. In the main cities and especially the capital city you need to be aware of the political and domestic stuff going on. In 2007 when I went it was the middle of the coup. So yeah, fun times on the resorts, not fun in the mainland.

Mana Island (manafiji.com) is a value based family favourite for us (we've been to five different island locations plus the mainland).

It has four different styles of accommodation (ocean front suites are wonderful, spacious two level and beachfront but island bures are great value for money) and beaches providing good snorkeling on north and south sides of the island (in case one is windy). Two pools on the island keeping kids busy. Food is good not great.

There are better islands but they get pricey - this wins the features & value for money prize.
