Are there any old-fashioned jazz bars on Elmwood?

I am looking for a cool spot to visit this spring. I love Jazz and I haven't been to a jazz bar in Buffalo yet.

I used to go to the Elmwood Lounge to see alance Diamond but it's now called Milkie's on Elmwood and they have Jazz on Tuesdays and Sundays. You can find out more at http://www.milkiesonelmwood.com/index.html

I heard that the Elmwood Lounge used to be awesome. I'm sad that I didn't get the chance to experience it. · (0 likelikes)

Hi Danielle. I'm not from Buffalo, but I head upstate frequently. In fact, I was just up that way this past week and had two clubs recommended to me:

Shadow Lounge is a restaurant with a musical guest calendar you should check to see if any good local jazz groups are playing. They have an eclectic mix, by the look of things.

The most authentic choice looks to be a historic spot called The Colored Musicians Club , which features special jam sessions and guest nights, as well as jazz classes for local schools and organizations. Here's a little bit about the history: http://www.math.buffalo.edu/~sww/0history/hwny-cmchistory.html
