Best places to visit outside of Buenos Aires?

What are the best day trips from Buenos Aires? I'm looking for fun, outdoorsy things to do within a short drive outside the city (about 3-4 hours away). Thanks!

Echoing what Laura said about Tigre - definitely big on river / boat activities and it's really beautiful! There is also a famous market there as well.

If you have some time, I recommend going to an Estancia (sort of like a dude ranch). They have them all around Argentina- I've heard great things about Estancia Los Dos Hermanos or Puesto Viejo Sa, both about an hour outside of the city.

    Enjoy!

Take the train to Tigre. I spent the summer of 2009 in Buenos Aires and visited Tigre twice while I was there. It's a small town with an amazing indoor/outdoor crafts market (Puerto de Frutos), great little spots to eat (stuffed waffles!), an art museum (Museo de Arte Tigre), walking paths throughout town, canals to explore and more. Its an easy 45 minute train ride from central BA, if I remember correctly.

You can also take a ferry over to Uruguay and spend a day there drinking yerba mate. Or do both!

I'm not much of a photo taker when I travel, but here are a couple pictures I could find, 2 of the town and 1 of me eating a stuffed waffle while wearing taped-together glasses.Tigre

I would definitely recommend San Antonio de Areco. It's an easy drive, you have very good restaurants, visit some typical estancias where activities are varied and very typical to the Gaucho culture and history.

You can go to Tigre, about one and a half hour from the city. It's a delta with beautiful little islands, you can take a boat tour or maybe go to a rowing club if you like sports.

You can also go to Tandil where you can do hikking, climbing, paragliding and other sports. I've never been there but they tell me is beautiful.
