Music scene in Berlin

Visiting Berlin in the Spring! I know Berlin has a huge music scene and I'm a little overwhelmed with where to start. Are there certain venues I should visit? I'm into all genres of music.

Electronic music, particularly dance music is Berlin's penchant.

Berghain (the techno mecca) - best to sleep then go sunday morning super early and stay for the day/evening. It's much less touristy and you can usually catch some big dj sorts playing in Berghain / Panorama Bar from 4am onwards.

Janus - hipster as hell, they play all kinds of new grime, rap and related music, also host international djs. It's a fun time here.

Weekend Club - has a rooftop garden in the centre of the city, house and techno music.

WaterGate - House & Techno, also a lovely location on the spree.

Club der Visionaere, Sisyphos, Salon Zur wilden Renate and Kater Holzig are popular all night/day clubs.

For live music check Kantine am Berghain website - they host great experimental music & live music shows during the week.

East Berlin is a great seedy little venue for small live music shows.

Haus der Kulturen der Welt & Berliner Festspiele programs are worth being looked into for new music, jazz, contemporary classical etc.

Berlin has a long history of classical music and the Berliner Philharmonie has a free matinee on Tuesdays, it is also an incredible building to visit.

    Hi James,

I'm into electronic music. House, deep house & techno.
Went to several clubs around the world and on the top of my list is Berghain in Berlin.
( somehow I cant tag it here)
Parties can last for days there...
