Chatuchak Weekend Market is worth the trip - I suggest showing up early though - it gets incredibly hot and packed with people. If you can handle it, you can easily spend a day there.

I traveled to Bangkok in 2010 to eat i can 100% recommend Cabbages & Condoms Restaurant Thailand and restaurants in Kabuki in the Siam Paragon.

-Cabbages and Condoms has the most amazing food and is in a very localized area of the city, welcoming people, tasty food and is promoting a very good cause. (don't get put off by the name, seriously!)

-Kabuki has the most sensational Thai food to offer, its is very modern.

We had a great time staying near the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, much less touristy and great morning street food markets! You are also close to Muay Thai fighting there and there is a huge and beautiful park to wall, bike or padlleboat around in. Also ถนนสีลม (Silom Road) has a great variety of shops and eateries from any and every region of the world. If you are a budget traveller like we were, the BEST hotel we found was the Sathorn Saint View . Decent rooms, interesting location-you literally have to walk through a winding neighborhood to get there-and the rooftop has a pool and view of Bangkok that can't be beat for the price. Also walking to and from the hotel, Annie's restaurant is not bad and a good representation of classis thai food. You also pass several delicious street food carts....Can't wait to go back there! Hope this helps!
