Fun but secure hostels?

Hi All!

I'm traveling to Europe for 4 1/2 weeks and I'm looking for fun hostels to meet people but that are still secure and affordable.  I'll be traveling through Amsterdam, Barcelona, Venice, Florence, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Nice, Prague, Munich and Fussen. Thoughts? Suggestions??

ALSO, if you have any must see spots in any of these locations please let me know!

My favorite hostel in Venice was called A Venice Fish. Such a fun place and cheap! Dorms are large and there are community dinners every night so you meet fellow travelers and friends almost instantly. The hostel people takes you out places, and to local bars for fun nights. They took me to an awesome reggae concert! It's located right in the heart of Venice so it's kind of perfect.

We stayed at Hostal Q in Barcelona, it was clean with a great room, centrally located and very reasonably priced. There seems to be a good mix of people who stay there.

In Venice we stayed at B&B NiceVenice which was also really clean and well located. For Venice it was also pretty well priced -- it's just hard to find because it is in a renovated apartment building so it's literally an apartment buzzer and not much signage.

    Hey,

I was really pleased with the guest house Mapamundo in barrio Gotico in Barcelona. Clean and secure place to be, 10 minutes away from Las Ramblas and approx 20 minutes away from the beach, reasonable prices.

The best hostel in Amsterdam is The Flying PIg. It's not only the most popular but also has a great location and secure. Most backpackers stay here so you will end up meeting a lot of travellers here.

If not this one then even Durty Nellys Irish bar and hostel is also a great place to stay. Has a nice bar downstairs and is close to most places.

Sounds like an awesome trip! We did almost exactly that on our first holiday to Europe. Most hostels are fun and easy, just be smart and take a padlock with you to secure your valuable items and passport in lockers provided. Also try couchsurfing.org for free accommodation with locals- obviously always tell someone who you are staying with and be smart about it.

Lock you passport and valuables away when you don't need them between boarders. Your passport is your most valuable possenion and it can be frustrating to replace. Take copies of everything with you and leave copies of passport and ID with someone you trust back home. Aldo take photos of everything for your travel insurance records.

    Most of all, have fun!

We stayed in Central Station Hostel in Amsterdam. It is a great location and very easy to walk to everything. Check out what to expect, what to do and how to get around here: http://www.neverendinghoneymoon.net/tips-for-exploring-amsterdam/

I had some friends temporarily live in Hotel De La Buffa ... they enjoyed it for what it was. You will likely hang out in Old Town (in Nice) but old town is so loud. I just saw the trip advisor reviews aren't great, so check it out and see what you think! My favorite pizza is in Nice at a resturant called Attimi- right at Place Massena! Enjoy!
