I'd recommend this over the Santa Monica Pier since it's probably going to be freezing and cloudy at this time of year. At the end of 3rd St. is the newly renovated open-air mall which is quite gorgeous and has a very nice food court with fancy schmancy restaurants at the top level. Get some hot chocolate and sit by the fire pit, =].

We can go here in the evening after reaching LA.
From Shruti: Its a street 5 minutes from the Santa Monica beach. Its lined with shops, restaurants, etc. Cars are not allowed there, which makes it really family friendly. There are 2 public garages, so we never had a problem with parking. In the evenings, there are many street performances and its We can go here in the evening after reaching LA.

So I would suggest going to the promenade, eating at a restaurant there (we would often eat at the PF Changs there because they accept reservations, but there are many other reasonable options. Also Bucca de.. is right next to a parking garage and I have great things about their food), and you can go to Santa Monica pier/beach.… see moresee less
