get down to the water near Presidio and Chrissy Field (grass field right on the water--any taxi driver will know it). Walk as far as you want from there towards Golden Gate Bridge. on the dirt path near the water. Food and 'services' close to the bridge. @Robert: The Letterman Digital Arts Center is amazing. Caveat to getting a tour is that you have to be invited by an employee. A friend that works there gave me a tour a year ago and it was such an amazing place!

Definitely tour around, see the Disney Museum and try to look for the Golden Yoda statue near LucasArts Studios...
