Went on my honeymoon. Took us 4 hours to find it (from Munich!) and by the time we got there, a thunderstorm with hail came down, sending everyone down the mountain! 10 minutes laters, the sun was shining and it was beautiful weather again. Gotta love the Alps.

BEEN THERE!! and yes it is real. Place was made by a guy they call " Crazy King Ludwig" the dude spend millions building it i think it was finally finished close to the 1900 - well after the time of castes. ( thus the name "Crazy Ludwig")

Call ahead of time to see if they are doing construction. We took a 2 1/2 hour train ride from Munich to see the top half of castle covered in netting due to construction. We waited another 2 1/2 hours for a tour that lasted only 20 minutes. Not worth it in my opinion.
