The pool and the saltwater lagoon at this hotel are the crown jewel of the property. The cabanas are first come, first serve (unless you pay for a reservation) so when you wake up in the AM to get some coffee, head down to the pool to drop off some space savers on your pool chairs. hyatt is great and much sunnier than princeville. We stayed in princeville and loved it and will stay there again next time, but it has more rain than Poipu side of the island.

This beach is heavenly. You can also catch a Trilogy catamaran tour here -- a definite must while on Maui. Take the sunset tour that includes a stop on Lanai.
gets windy up here but still nice. This is more remote than staying in Wailea so if you're looking to get away a bit more, it's a great option. All the Wailea hotels (fairmont, four seasons, grand wailea, marriott, are all kind of stacked up on each other)... Kapalua is a ways away from all that.
The "Spa Grande" is one of the better spas in the world. So if you and/or the lady want to hit a spa, this is probably a better option than the Four Seasons (and its right next door and an easy walk down the beach).
