You're probably more likely to find an Ungaro dress here from the 80s than a cool bowling shirt from the 50s. The merchandise here is good but very, very Upper East Side old school and not wildly cheap. It's the kind of place Jackie O would have donated her things to.
Murray's is one of my favorite stores in the city. It's relatively small and always incredibly crowded so if you're claustrophobic forget it. They have this great glass cabinet in the back where you can see the cheese aging (at least that's what I assume it's doing back there).
International bulk spices and Middle Eastern specialty items. Thirty varieties of dried whole chilies and chili powder and 180 varieties of imported tea.
Probably one of the most famous churches in NYC. I know you like music, so you should check out Riverside Church's calender for music, whether it's choral, or the organ. They also have other events like theater and even yoga. My choir actually performed here when I was in high school and I swear Probably one of the most famous churches in NYC. This distillery is way off the beaten path, which is all the more reason to go! The first whiskey distillery to open after the Prohibition, it is New York City's oldest.

It's one of the first burgers that really tailored the cuts of meat that go into it. It's hand made by Pat La Frieda and only available at the Minetta...
It's fitting that a new hat shop would open in what used to be the garment district. You can actually see your hat being made here which is kind of fun.
Don't wig out if you get there and all you see is a Chinese restaurant--you're in the right place. Catering to a very hip clientele, this place even has a special Fashion Week menu.
I grew up not far from here and remember hearing about it. It's an island with a sad and very mysterious history. Typhoid Mary was quarantined here as were dozens of WWII soldiers diagnosed with contagious diseases. It's a relative newcomer to the NYC thrift shop scene but it's probably the best one in town. Carrying almost exclusively vintage items from clothing to furniture, this place prices everything very, very fairly, and you can pretty much always find a treasure here. The prices are a little higher here but the selection, especially for furniture, is excellent. Make sure to go downstairs to look for clothing bargains.
