The hotel is located at Costa Ballena, in walking distance to the Ballena Marine National Park, at the South Pacific area of Costa Rica. http://www.cristal-ballena.com/
An amazingly stunning habitat for a plethora of bird and flora species, this region is most well known for being the primary habitat for the resplendent Quetzal, Costa Rica’s most famous bird.
At the top of the volcano you can observe the main craters and on a clear day, both Atlantic and Pacific Oceans can be seen. http://valledoradotours.cr
In addition to the volcano there are actually a number of thermal springs around here, too, which isn't surprising considering they both usually contain sulfur.
This is the extinct volcano next to Arenal, and you can climb it -- and then boast to all your friends that you CLIMBED A VOLCANO. There's a crater lake at the top, too.
Arenal is the adventure capital of central America. You MUST go. We spent 4 nights, which was probably too much (i'd say do 3), and did zip lining, rafting, waterfall repelling, hiking, hot springs, and more. It's really fun. A great bonding experience for sure.
