Known as the Ochre City, Marrakesh has the largest traditional market (souk) in Morocco. If you're thinking this means some fruit and trinkets imagine you can so get them with the accompaniment of your own personal storyteller, magician or musician. Just name the price.
This is a real walking city. You can see all the Old Town on foot and it's easy enough to get around. Some parts of the Old town are a little steep so bring good walking shoes.
This gorgeous city was heavily bombed during the Croatian War of Independence from 1991 to 1995. Fortunately much of damage has been fixed, but if you look closely you can see evidence in some of the ancient stone houses.
This incredible shopping complex is been re-built throughout the ages because of fires and earthquakes. It's currently open every day but Sunday and is a must see attraction in Istanbul.
II've heard the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul is amazing. It was originally a church, later a mosque, and now a museum. It was first built by the Byzantines in the 6th century!
This 6 star resort is the definition of indulging. They will even pick you up by helicopter from the airport. It's a fifteen minute ride. I wonder if they give you a limo ride from the elevator to your room.
I always think of Hans Christian Anderson when I hear the name of this city! Would love to come here as a tourist. Lots of history, even a castle in the center of town.
Atlantis is brilliant - but expensive. Water park around hotel so lots of fun. Restaurants are buffet style but there is also Nobu there which is great. easy relaxing around the hotel in many pools. Quite a lot of families, but so much space you won't find it encroaching if it is a boys trip.
I think the hotels in Dubai are one of the main attractions, because they're so over the top. The Atlantis has never really appealed to me, but it is pretty impressive to walk through... grab a dirnk near the lobby area and people watch.
Call ahead of time to see if they are doing construction. We took a 2 1/2 hour train ride from Munich to see the top half of castle covered in netting due to construction. We waited another 2 1/2 hours for a tour that lasted only 20 minutes. Not worth it in my opinion.
these fountains were designed by the same group that did the bellagio fountain. From 6 to 10 pm, there's a show every 30 minutes. This is a new attraction in Dubai, it just opened a few years ago.
