The menu is like the city itself, patchwork from all sort of different cultures (tacos, fried chicken, Swedish meatballs and even a riff on apple pie) that somehow work perfectly Marcus Samuelsson's labor of love in the neighborhood he calls home, Harlem. This will be the most expensive Lobster sandwhich you will eat $15 -- but if you're able to catch the truck, I think it's pretty good. If you're into lobster.
One of the few places my wife's parents will eat (other than our place) when visiting from China. Family style dining with both authentic and "safe dishes". Far less sexy than my other recommend (Buddakan) but we love it here.
Might be my favorite place in the whole city. You could swear this place has been here for a century, but it's only been here since 1997. Getting a table can be a bear, but the food is worth it. Great spot for celebrity sighting, too.

Known by locals as "BAM" this place produces some incredible shows, for instance Cate Blanchett in "A Streetcar Named Desire". I've seen some great things here and would highly recommend checking it out while you're in town.
Sugar freaks, chocoholics, pie fiends take note: You will feel like you've died and gone to heaven. From compost cookies to croissants, ice cream to coffee, once you go, you'll be a Milk Bar evangelist.
