I stayed in Railay East which is just around from Tonsai Bay. But a friend of mine stayed in Tonsai, said it was great. Railay and Tonsai both have nice beaches like Phi Phi but much smaller and much less people. If you are going to stay in Railay, try to find somewhere on the west side, it is more I stayed in Railay East which is just around from Tonsai Bay.
