one of the best places i've ever been. walking down these streets until you reach the water is magical. you really get a feel for barcelona. it's culture and it's beauty.
One of the best hostels in Europe, if its still around is called 'the Kabul' - Its about 500m from the bottom of Las Rambas in a small square offshoot path. This was the best hostel for fun & meeting people! Highly recommend it!

Walk as far as you want from there towards Golden Gate Bridge. on the dirt path near the water. Food and 'services' close to the bridge. @Robert: The Letterman Digital Arts Center is amazing. Caveat to getting a tour is that you have to be invited by an employee. A friend that works there gave me a tour a year ago and it was such an amazing place!
