I love hotels with gyms and pools. I never use them, but it's comforting to know they're there. Besides, have you ever tried to get out of the beds at a Sheraton? They're magic. I slept through my vacation.
I like my hotels like I like my women: affordable and in a great location. Not big on frills, but probably still more than you're used to at home. Simple, clean, and cozy.
If my room were any closer to the water, I'd be soaking wet. Led Zeppelin stayed here, but don't worry the Edgwater have a really thorough cleaning staff.
Amazing place. If you like oysters - this is a must. 5000 word feature in the NYtimes on this restaurant. Proprietor Renee Erikson is so talented and wonderful. Best cocktails in Seattle - try the mustache ride (my favorite).
Allergic to sea food? This place is worth it, so suck it up. And then suck up some of the slimiest, most delicious oysters in town. They have so many fancy varieties of oyster you'll feel like you rode in on a turnip truck.
Great place. There were so many lovley things to choose from my sister and I could not choose, so we got a dozen. When I was paying for them I asked the checkout girl if this came with some insulin and a paramedic!
Whats walking down the sidewalk by the Piers without checking this place out. Mexican jumping beans, "petri-fido", shrunken heads and mummified things are amongst their inventory. Fun little shop!
A museum/oddities shop, YOCS stimulates your morbid side. They've got real skulls, petrified animals in jars, old timey weapons, and oddly enough they sell candy. If you have 51 cents to spare, you can get one of those squeezed pennies from your youth.
You best put this on your itinerary for rainy day activities. The King Tut exhibit is probably great for kids, but as a naive adult I found it profoundly informative and eye opening. Some exhibits are in need of an update, but let's be honest we just go to play with the science toys and check out You best put this on your itinerary for rainy day activities. Even though I'm not a history buff, I couldn't get enough of the Museum of Flight. They have a bunch of WWI and WWII planes, pilot uniforms, helicopters, and other noteworthy flying junk. You can also tour the Concord, and a space shuttle simulator if you're feeling extra nerdy.
While not a huge aquarium, this place stands out for one thing. OTTERS! River and sea otters are possibly the cutest animals that ever roamed and they have several at the Seattle Aquarium. Check out their website for feeding times.
The Sorrento is all about class. French presses in every room, free wifi, shuttles to nearby attractions like Pike Street. Stay for a night if you want to be pampered with elegance and old style charm. I would honeymoon at the Sorrento if I weren't so poor and single. Live jazz!
From stand-up comedy, concerts, lectures and plays this 1920's beauty is a Seattle icon. I saw "Avenue Q" here, and there's not a bad seat in the house. A can't miss for my fellow art deco fiends.
This is definitely a place to go just to say you've been there. Starbucks coffee tastes like a burnt sponge to me, but I went anyway and ordered the most expensive thing they had. I hear Frasier hangs out here too! It's always really busy, but at least you get something to tweet about.
The Seattle Art Museum has salvaged more than a few rainy days. It's a spacious, clean layout with a revolving door of world class temporary exhibits (Gauguin, Nick Cave's sound suits, Edward Hopper.) Their permanent collection is enough to warrant a visit. I was personally into the aboriginal art. The Seattle Art Museum has salvaged more than a few rainy days. This outdoor art gallery was like walking around in Wonderland. Gigantic interactive metal and rock sculptures that you walk around and through makes this one of my favorite public spaces in the world. What a cool place to stay. Circular room, HUGE windows, and amazing views more than make up for the smallish room size and dated furnishings. Decently price and very walkable. The staff didn't pay much attention to me, which is great because I like being left alone. My girlfriend loves this place. What a cool place to stay. The good thing about the Seattle W is the location, near a Light Rail station and walkable restaurants and shopping. Their diminutive food truck menu takes the guesswork out of ordering Greek food. Stuff yourself with lamb, beef, or chicken shawarma and of course save room for falafel.
