This cave is one in which the Buddhist monk Guru Padmasambhava is said to have inhabited and meditated in for 3 months during the 8th century. He is credited with introducing Buddhism to Bhutan.
What a fantastic place for a lodge. The water here is said to be incredibly pure and healing and the incredible part is that it is considered to be forest dwelling of sorts and much of the natural water carves through the trees. Serene.
Some people get inspired by serene retreats or quiet lakes and others get inspired by the ultimate dream drive. If so, this is your spot for seven miles and 99 turns of sheer bliss.

Beautifully designed (and camouflaged) architecture meant to conceal the identity of it as being a Jewish Synagogue, the Viennese designer chose to use primarily Islamic models of architecture. Located near the border of the Budapest Ghetto.
Incredible vision of finding peace & a sense of calm in the midst of one of the regions most powerful waterfalls. These waterfalls go up to 40 meters in size.
The trail that leads you past this is hugely popular attracting thousands of visitors a year. While you may not get peace and quiet here the scenery is clearly pretty amazing.
This is still an active Greek Orthodox monastery, having survived many religious & regional takeovers throughout the centuries. It is located 12 miles from Jerusalem & open to spiritual seekers and visitors. Incredible cliff dwelling architecture.
You don't get many places that are considered sacred in four different religions. At Mount Kailash, this healthy competition consists of: Bön, Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism.
Great story that at the time of the completion in 1878, there was no way to get to the choir loft. Carpenters were called in and they had no good solution that wouldn't ruin the design. This place fascinates me about as much as any place I've ever heard of. Cao Dai is a relatively new religion, having been started in the 1920s. It's principles are too complicated to discuss here but I will say that there's a painting in this temple that represents God talking to humanity. It's principles are too complicated to discuss here but I will say that there's a painting in this temple that represents God talking to humanity. To represent humanity, the painter chose, among others, Victor Hugo, Churchill, Lenin, Joan of Arc, and Napoleon. I'd like to see this if for no other reason than to see that picture!…see moresee less
60 miles northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, this temple is a colorful ode to the meaning of Cao Dai of " The highest place where God reigns." You are free to watch the ceremonies here but take note that men should wear pants & women in skirts should be below the knee.
This inspired outdoor non-denominational church couldn't have picked a better spot. Services are held from June through September. Perfect for those of you that might be more "seasonal" in your church going.
Let's not start the jokes about the name of the lake (I covered them all in elementary school), the more inspired version is that this was a sacred Incan hotspot. This temple is dedicated to the God of Water (Wisnu) and the Balinese believe that water is one of the forces of life. Apparently the waters here come from a natural source so they are clear & inspiring. Enjoy.
It probably won't surprise you that the word Amanyara means peaceful place. This is an abundantly acclaimed resort and one that will also provide you with your own private yoga teacher if you can afford the peace.
This is an absolute must see in Turkey and interesting fact, there is a heavy chain at the entrance on the west side for the ruler of the mosque who was the only one allowed to enter. It is a symbol of humbleness for a ruler in the face of the Divine.
This spot has everything you want to get inspired. Apparently there are single AND double rainbows throughout the day due to the spray of the waterfall. It is also said that a Viking explorer buried a treasure somewhere behind the waterfall.
I remember standing at one of the lookouts after walking to "the top" of the wall and thinking to myself, Wow, on one side is Mongolia and to the other is China and I literally felt as if I had the whole world to myself. It was truly awe-inspiring. Nothing like it.
I've practiced yoga for many years and often heard there were several power points in the world that were considered deeply sacred and spiritual. Big Sur is one of them. If you have a mystical bent, this notion might appeal to you. It has worked well for me.
Floralis Generica is a landmark in Buenes Aires and translates to being a symbol for all of the flowers of the world. As we get more and more global this thought becomes all the more relevant, right? Artist/Architect is Eduardo Catalano.
