I rode through here on my 1992 Heritage Softail on a trip across the country. I can almost smell the fresh mountain air today. This picture takes me back to a happy time of my life.
Guaranteed to get wet on this one! J got drenched sitting in front and we got suckered into buying the souvenir picture at the end b/c of her and Andrew's expressions!
This is a spectacular waterfall, especially in the spring when water levels are the highest. Hike up is fairly easy, however it gets crowded on the trail, so it won't feel totally "adventurous".
If you're staying in South Lake Tahoe, you'll want to ski Heavenly... it's on that side of the lake. On the north side, you'll have Squaw Valley and some other smaller mountains too.
Believe it or not, this is not lava. This is how the falls look for just a few minutes a day in late February and that's if and only if the timing is right. Provided there's been enough water and the light hits just right, these falls appear to virtually glow. Quite a show, eh?
