I've always wanted to do this. I was driving thru New Mexico, a couple years ago while driving across country, and they had their annual balloon festival. Sadly, it was too windy. Another day.... It's certainly on my bucket list!!!
I'm desperate to try this! The festival goes on for a few days but there are a few days when they launch 100 balloons simultaneously. This is one of the few things in life that would get me up at 5 a.m., which is when the balloons launch.
Mesa Verde National Park is a U.S. National Park created in 1906 by President Theodore Roosevelt in order to protect some of the best-preserved cliff dwellings in the world. Inscribed in 1978, it is one of the 21 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the United States.
It was cool. When the restaurant turns around, you can find notes on the window seal with a crayon, so grab it and say hello to the curious kid who left it there for you!
Crazy architecture and some really cool exhibits if you're into music and sci-fi. Nirvana, Avatar, Scary movies, and an instruments playing lab were the highlights while we were there.
This is the extinct volcano next to Arenal, and you can climb it -- and then boast to all your friends that you CLIMBED A VOLCANO. There's a crater lake at the top, too.
Floated the Colorado River with the family. One of the best experiences ever. Ride was excellerating and the food and entertainment were mind boggling. Make sure you hit all the big rapidsl.
