For what is essentially a diner they actually have some really great food here. Unfortunately, because of where most Mel's are based it can either be a bit of a scene or a bit of a tourist scene, neither of which is my thing. That said, you should give it a go when you're in town.
I'm a sports geek, so I was thrilled when my home team got a new stadium. It's one of the best in the country. When I go to a game I always head to the Kramarczuk's stand for one of their fantastic sausages.
Chef Shack is just one of the Twin Cities great food trucks. I love their heirloom tomato and watermelon gazpacho so much I even special ordered some to serve at my birthday party last year.
This is a great, annual charity event in which people purchase ducks, dump them into the ocean by the hundreds, and then get rewarded if their duck comes in before the others!
You're lucky you're visiting during off-peak season because the line is usually obscene! You shouldn't have any trouble going at any time during the day (but afternoons are always best).
Michael Voltaggio is an amazing guy and talented chef. It’s a no-fuss kind of place; food freaks and grandmas will feel very welcome, but you’ll want to leave the picky eaters in your family at home. The menu is inspired by LA’s diverse influences.
I think this pretty much speaks for itself. Not only can you get a great view of Lower Manhattan here but you can also see the Statue of Liberty. It's a pretty amazing spot.
Fuggedaboutit!!! This place has everything so come with plenty of bargaining cash! It's only a few years old but it's already the place where those of us who mourn the death of the 26th street flea markets come to grieve.
It's gotten way too trendy but even so it's worth a stop to see the Lalique windows which are amazing. Just about every woman in NYC has at least one of their signature brown and white cosmetics bags.
I'm not someone who's particularly into bridges but every time I see the Brooklyn Bridge I get chills. It takes about an hour or so to walk across it making it one of the best free attractions in the city.
This is part of the famed Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim hike. While it may be the Grandaddy of hikes, it's not for everyone--the Canyon can be relatively punishing so just make sure you're prepared.
