This may be a little much with young kids, but it is a very interesting and fascinating museum for older kids and adults. You can put it on your wish list for a few years from now.

Lots of interesting stuff here for kids as well as some incredibly interesting lectures and exhibits for adults.

I heard they have some really cool exhibits.

If you have some connections do the West Wing tour over the East wing. Its more exclusive and you get to see the cool stuff!

I was turned on to this place on my last trip. There's a bunch of these all over DC, so if you need to grab a quick lunch or want a sandwich before you head out for drinks, they are worth checking out.
