The best coffee in San Francisco (better than Blue Bottle in my opinion). Expensive, but worth every penny. I recommend Silken Splendor. OK, I'm going to say it: This is the most beautiful art deco building on in the world. Saw my very first movie ever here--don't think I was really old enough to appreciate the architecture, though.
Part of the 826 Valencia project, this is where most pirates I know go for extra hooks, eye patches, and pegleg fittings. If you have a little pirate in your life you might want to pay a visit here.
This is one of my favorite "meet-up" spots in San Francisco. Great place to relax with friends/family after a long day of touring. The Genmaicha green tea (brewed from corn) is my absolute favorites. Yum.
If you like the Yerba Buena Samovar, you should also definitely check out the Sanchez/18th location. It's my fave! Assuming you're OK with a touch of sugar, the chilled Schizandra Berry tea (an adaptogenic) is outstanding. Perfect for a cheat day, as is the cheese plate with real honey comb. agreed with peter. don't take this zoo for granted. it craps on our LA zoo, no joke. don't sleep on this if you haven't been. pay for the sky ride/bus tour, it's worth it -- see animals while you hop from one side of the park to the next.
These trees are truly amazing. Now found throughout Hawaii, they originally come from India. Root clusters are sent down from the branches to maximize the nutrients they can pull from the soil.
