If you want to learn to scuba dive, this is the place. I think I stayed in Sairee beach. Not the nicest of swimming beaches at all, but it won't matter if you are diving all day. There's something like 40+ dive shops on this island. Night time was fun with lots of bars and restaurants.
I've never actually done this before, but it's something that I've been wanting to do! This is a nonprofit and during your stay there, you get to take care of a retired elephant assigned to you, so if you're an animal lover.... :)

this is a MUST DO if you're a shopper-- it's opened on the weekends only and it's advised that you get there super early. It's HUGE so allow a full day to get there are shop around. Great for basically anything and everything from handcrafted items, furniture, food, etc.
