Nice place, but expensive. Be careful with the add ons with food. For example, breadsticks at Olive Garden are free/unlimited. It's not the same over there. Vibrant city!
Bars: Blue Bar. There's also another bar/restaurant very near Puerta de Alcala and they have the best mojitos there. The name is Ramses. There's another restaurant called Lateral, good for tapas, casual dining.
Playa Mayor, Parque del Retiro, Puerta de Alcala, Plaza Cibeles (where the Real Madrid FC celebrates the victory - not very often lately ;), go to the Palacio Real (where the queen and king currently live). I remember there was a churro place around the Royal Palace but I don't remember the name... I spent three days in Florence eating nothing but steak Florentine and gelato. That alone would be enough to put it on the list. Toss in the Uffizi Gallery, Michelangelo’s David, the Doma and the numerous palazzo’s, and it is my favorite city in Italy.
