In addition to the igloo rooms... this place claims to have the world largest smoke sauna (nice!) and traditional Lapp tent restaurants (not sure what that is but sounds intriguing). They also boast a Santa's Village.
Nothing like sitting in your swimsuit in the middle of a snowstorm. It's near the airport, so it's great to do in the morning before your afternoon flight back to the US.
oh and if u do go here...i think there are 2 trails...waterfall trail and suspension bridget trail...we went on the waterfall trail.... it was less crowded :)
The cloud Forest trek was really cool. Its about 3 hours. Having visited this museum on one of their "free" days I went expecting to enjoy it about as much as I would enjoy an afternoon of NASCAR (which isn't much). Instead, I discovered one of the all time best museums of the city. My favorite thing here was the Hermes Kelley bag they had on display--only the French could make the connection between the natural world and handbags. Park at the foot of the mountain by Vermont Ave and Los Feliz Blvd and hike up the road to the observatory (stay on the left side). And you can't miss the planetarium shows (super cheap at $5/ticket). They've got three, and the most popular one is "Centered in the Universe." Although there's a lean towards French cinema at this Paris museum programs and exhibits are still pretty liberally focused on other countries as well. By the way, if you guessed that this is a Gehry building, you're right.
