Nothing like sitting in your swimsuit in the middle of a snowstorm. It's near the airport, so it's great to do in the morning before your afternoon flight back to the US.

Man, I wish I had more time.

Having visited this museum on one of their "free" days I went expecting to enjoy it about as much as I would enjoy an afternoon of NASCAR (which isn't much). Instead, I discovered one of the all time best museums of the city. Park at the foot of the mountain by Vermont Ave and Los Feliz Blvd and hike up the road to the observatory (stay on the left side). And you can't miss the planetarium shows (super cheap at $5/ticket). They've got three, and the most popular one is "Centered in the Universe." Great place to take family, walk around, escape into a mini getaway. My mom used to take me here, so it's super nostalgic for me.

Although there's a lean towards French cinema at this Paris museum programs and exhibits are still pretty liberally focused on other countries as well. By the way, if you guessed that this is a Gehry building, you're right.
