small, cool, hip...probably one of the cooler/hipper spots in that part of town. If you find yourself over that way, stop in for their signature cucumber gin and tonic.
When a bar has its own absinthe menu you know you're in good hands. This is an adorable little place in Brooklyn--they also have oysters if that tickles your fancy.
Fuggedaboutit!!! This place has everything so come with plenty of bargaining cash! It's only a few years old but it's already the place where those of us who mourn the death of the 26th street flea markets come to grieve.
Might be my favorite place in the whole city. You could swear this place has been here for a century, but it's only been here since 1997. Getting a table can be a bear, but the food is worth it. Great spot for celebrity sighting, too.

The crowds can be awful but you've got to see it. Personally I think the gardens are more interesting than the palace. Just make sure you check the fountain schedule on their site as the famous fountains are not always in use and you want to be sure to be there when they are.
This distillery is way off the beaten path, which is all the more reason to go! The first whiskey distillery to open after the Prohibition, it is New York City's oldest.
Young chefs breaking the mold-- no wait staff, no hostess. The cooks take your order, then cook it, then run it. Best part? You can get a 10-course tasting menu for two for $60. Sometimes it’s a little off the wall (offal burgers?), but when it works, it’s amazing.

Thomas Keller is the man behind two of the country’s most highly regarded destination dining spots: The French Laundry and Per Se. If you’re looking for a once in a lifetime meal, look no further.
I swear that Doug and Bryan of Big Gay Ice Cream are having more fun than anyone I know in the food biz. These guys have a stellar product (soft serve ice cream and other homemade treats) and are two of the funniest people I've met in awhile. You'll probably leave here with a salty pimp ice cream I swear that Doug and Bryan of Big Gay Ice Cream are having more fun than anyone I know in the food biz. You'll probably leave here with a salty pimp ice cream cone in one hand (chocolate, caramel, sea salt), and their phone number in another. I love these two. …see moresee less
